Tahiti mother of Pearl

A product long sought after for decoration, marquetry, making jewelery or buttons, the mother-of-pearl of Tahiti is a material that continues to diversify in its use. Its popular iridescent appearance is formed by the regular superposition of layers of conchyoline, aragonite crystals, traces of water and various ions.

In symbolism, mother-of-pearl is supposed to evoke maternal and protective virtues. Used to cover the soul with a soft veil that softens the asperities of the personality, it is also supposed to guard against the difficulties of existence and heart wounds.

The Illumination collection combines in its pens, utility, beauty, and symbolism. Unique pieces, designed, cut, polished and hand-engraved in Polynesian art.
